A consistent way to price software modifications.

Software modifications should not be priced by guesswork. CodeRefit uses Modification Units (MU) to turn technical impact into a repeatable fixed-quote framework.

Current baseline
1 MU = $55

Minimum standard scoped project: 1 MU ($55).

The MU rate is a commercial baseline. The number of units comes from the impact score below.

Five scoring factors

Business-logic complexity0–3
Code/data impact0–3
External integration breadth0–3
Implementation risk0–3
Testing breadth0–3

Score → Modification Units

The framework is intentionally simple enough to explain and consistent enough to reuse.

Low impact

1–3 score

2 MU

$110 baseline project price

  • Small, contained change
  • Limited dependencies
  • Narrow testing requirement
High impact

9–15 score

6–10+ MU

$330+ baseline project price

  • Cross-system impact
  • Integration/data changes
  • Broader testing and risk
Exploratory debugging can require a capped diagnostic stage when the cause is unknown. We do not force unknown work into a fake fixed quote.

What the fixed quote includes

Written modification scope
Acceptance criteria
Development against that scope
Scope-related testing fixes
Defined delivery/deployment responsibility

What changes the price

Not the original purchase price of the software. Not whether the change sounds small in one sentence. The price changes when the requested behaviour touches more code, data, systems, risk or testing.
